The misalignment of the coupling will cause radial force, resulting in bending or deflection of the shaft during each rotation, thus affecting the fitting of the mechanical sealing surface inside the pump. The sealing surface is forced to open because the sealing spring is difficult to react to the bending of each shaft and higher vibration frequency in time. Rupture of the lubricant film between the sealing surfaces will cause wear and erosion of the sealing surfaces.

Couplings are used to connect two joints of TUBING COUPLING or CASING pipe together.

Couplings are short length of heavy wall pipe with the same threads on each end.
